AES Engineering Growth Continues

AES Engineering Ltd, the award winning engineering group has reported continued growth in its latest results, boosted by acquisitions and the opening of its ‘Factory of the Future’.

The ‘Factory of the Future’ is a strategic investment designed to enhance operations and drive long-term success through innovation, sustainability, and scalability for AES Engineering Ltd. The facility opened in summer 2023 and has already won the Sustainable Development of the Year award. It features a new 16,250m² steel-framed factory, built to the highest environmental standards, alongside the refurbishment of the existing plant. This expansion nearly doubles the manufacturing company’s capacity.

AES Engineering Ltd is the holding company of AESSEAL, AVT Reliability Ltd, AVTPump Ltd, ProPack  Dichtungen und Packungen AG and others and is the world’s largest homogeneous designer and manufacturer of mechanical seals.

Headquartered in Rotherham, AES Engineering continues to strengthen its global presence, now operating across 230 locations and serving customers in 104 countries. The group employs over 2,000 people worldwide.

In its recently filed accounts for the year ending 31 December 2024, AES Engineering Ltd reported a turnover of £270.7 million, up from £260.4 million in 2023. Pre-tax profits rose to £59 million, compared to £56.4 million the previous year, while EBITDA increased to £69.8 million from £65 million.

The group attributed its growth to a combination of organic development and strategic acquisitions.

In 2024, AES acquired controlling interests in two North American companies: Condition Monitoring Services (CMS) and PSS Seal LLC.

Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, CMS specialises in reliability and vibration monitoring services across California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. It is a recognised leader in the power generation and municipal sectors, offering expertise in machinery, foundations, and structural diagnostics.

PSS Seal LLC, established in 1981, is a prominent manufacturer and distributor of mechanical face seals. Its flagship product, the PSS Shaft Seal, is regarded as one of the world’s leading marine mechanical seals.

Further recognition came in May 2025 when AES Engineering was honoured with a King’s Award for Enterprise in the Sustainable Development category. The award highlights the group’s commitment to delivering products and services that positively impact both society and the environment.

Group finance director Claire Dickinson told Insider: “We’re proud to deliver another year of strong performance, with organic sales growth of 4.3 per cent and a 7.4 per cent increase in EBITDA – building on the exceptional momentum of recent years. This represents another year of consistent, above-market growth, driven by our exceptional customer service, industry-leading lead times, and close collaboration with customers to deliver reliable, sustainable solutions. With the strategic acquisitions completed in Q4, we entered 2025 with an even stronger platform for accelerated growth and value creation.

“The Factory for the Future has been a strategic investment designed to not only enhance current operations but also to drive long term success through innovation, sustainability and scalability. We have just commissioned several additional robotic machines in the factory to support future growth and are heavily investing in other operational robots at the same time as upskilling our workforce.”

The 10-acre, low-density site includes a ‘Tree Walk’ for educational and leisure purposes with a wetlands area, and accommodation for bees, hedgehogs, and other wildlife. Project spending includes £5.8 million ($7.5 million) of ‘green-only’ investment, such as solar panels, battery storage, and other energy-saving or environmental measures.

A total of 175,000 sq. ft. of new factory buildings were constructed to the highest environmental standards, and the existing plant is also being updated and refurbished as part of the scheme.
